Re: Bootes Black

I know, right? I immediately wanted to run into the kitchen and fix myself an 'Old Fashioned'; muddle some fruit in a glass and pour whisky all over everything! This is a fly right out of a 'Madmen' episode (that's a compliment, Norm).

Re: Warwick

Beautiful! I wonder how or why they came up with some of these old wet fly patterns. Did they think they would just be something that attracted trout. Weren't imitations. I guess they attracted fisherman. :) They are beautiful to look at and you do a great job of tying. I enjoy seeing them. Doug J....

Man, that is a beautiful tie. Love the less than subtle barring on the feather. Thanks for sharing it.

Re: Biot Soft Hackles

I'm always amazed when I look at a fly that Norm tied, and I see things that I should have seen all along. Using biot bodies on my soft hackles, why haven't I been using those?

As always, Norm's sense of proportion is spot-on. Great stuff, Norm.

Re: Bream bug (nymph)

DarrellP , Howdy; Who hasn't fished for Bluegill/panfish :?: Time Honored phase for development for mankind. It's how I (sorta), learned to fly cast. IMO, there are most likely a lot of folks that keep their casting 'skills' sharp while chuckin' panfish bugs when trouts are not available or off lim...

This fly screams northern Maine and the Allagash. Great tie, Norm.

I'm thankful LaFontaine left us with the things he did. He was a rare breed.
