Re: PTSd Nymph (Polish Tatra Sheepdog)

Ray, that’s a classic in the making. Let ‘em shed! What a cool gift.

Also, that’s dead ringer for a caddis pupa I see in the fall in northern PA on Kettle. Don’t lose them all.

So happy to see this thread come back to the surface. What a fantastic series of pics and process descriptions. Ray is a beast. 8-)

Re: Partridge & Yellow

Very cleanly dressed fly. It may be my computer screen and it's color rendition, but the yellow silk has a slight green tint to it, as if it were waxed with cobbler's wax. Just curious if that was the case. Beautiful fly. The tint you see might be the result of wrapping such a light colored silk ov...

Re: quill body hot spot scores

Had two great days on the Crooked River yesterday and today...fished with a couple non-believers who haven't had the wet fly cool aid yet..Winter fishing on the Crooked can be testy... high wind yesterday, bright sun today, but the midges were hatching and the trout were rising to my little red bea...

Re: quill body hot spot scores

Soft hackles definitely are the ticket at times. I watched my oldest son last spring pluck a beautiful brown with a GRHE with a partridge hackle from a pool that 2 guys thrashed for a half hr with dry flies. 2nd cast, 15 feet quartering upstream, on a dead drift. The fish was 15". Proud dad an...

Re: Clark's Spinning Block vs The Dubber

I haven't made many blocks in the past couple years and I'm out of finished blocks besides a couple that I owe people. I am working on them. I just found a couple pics I took when I was doing more of the exotic woods and thought I would share them. The blocks are essentially an expression of the Ame...

That’s quite the score, Doug. Nicely prepped. Now to see what you do with it. :)

Re: Hendrickson soft hackle

John, your Hendrickson soft-hackles are gorgeous. I really like the dubbing silk combo. I have always loved tying flies that match Hendricksons and it's one of my favorite hatches. I've only caught the hatch on Central Pa streams and haven't seen the flies emerge in the Catskills when I was there. F...
