Re: Tailwaters Candy

That's a FINE looking fish and I love the fly!
@Roadkill I really dig your version because I was actually thinking to myself that I would like that pattern but with a really short hackle. Seems you were one step ahead of me with the ostrich. I wouldn't have thought to use that.

Re: Chironomid

Unfortunately no. I've been out to try and test it on rainbows several times but everything is froze up solid. I guess I'm stuck waiting. If you notice this chironomid and my "suicide bomber" emerger are the same dressing, the emerger just uses CDC instead of poly yarn and is tied on a big...

Re: Oregon? Polly Rosborough?

wsBailey THANKS! That's cool, when I didn't recognize the name while reading his book. I know he used a lot of Belding too but I'm not sure if it was silk or nylon. I know in his early days at least he tied without a bobbin so I assume silk but I'm not sure if he picked up a bobbin later as tools an...

Oregon? Polly Rosborough?

Hey guys I have some questions I'm hoping some of yall could help answer. I'm wondering if anyone here is from Oregon or is an "expert" on Polly Rosborough. I'm a BIG fan of the man, his nymphs, and his observations. I finally got my hands on a copy of his book...but reading it brought as ...

Re: Needs a name

DOUGSDEN too kind as usual sir!! letumgo mentioned dynamite earlier in the thread so because of that I've been calling it the suicide bomber. Seems like a reasonable and not at all offensive name haha.

Needs a name

Recently I came up with what I thing is a really good chironomid pupa pattern. I believe I posted it here. Well I got to messing around and turned it in to an emerger. It's hard water season here but I think it looks really promising. If nothing else it's photogenic hahaha If you want a materials li...

Re: Red Fox Squirrel Flymph

@DOUGSDEN I am indeed flattered and to be completely honest a little shocked because I was just messing around and it came out OK but not exactly how I wanted. One thing is for sure...I would never dream of critiquing any of your work sir. The feeling is mutual tho as my bench is covered in those li...

Re: Clark's dubbing block

I use one. I wouldn't say a LOT but I do use one often depending on the fly and the size. For flies size 14 to 12 i prefer to use the technique old hat describes on his website for the lisenring spider when you dub a SPARSE thin noodle, then lay a "blanket" of dubbing over it and spin it u...

Re: Tups Indispensable

dj-if I'm tying one to take a picture of or tying them flymph style I use pale honey dun. For just a fishin fly I use light blue dun or cream.
