Re: Tiny soft hackles ala Syl Nemes
Wayne, I also have a copy of Syl's book and it is fantastic! The technique that you and Ray are going over is a good one but our pal Bill Shuck does a terrific job with his own special technique that is really quite cool! Both methods sure do save alot of marginal hackles from certain extinction! Gr...

Re: Longear and Leaves
Swellcat, You are singing my song! What a great looking fish on such an unusual fly! I live for sunfishes in all varieties including your perfect catch of this magnificent longear. Have you ever run across the brightly colored pumkinseed? I live the steely blue markings up and over the top of this f...

Re: March Brown Flymph
Bill,
Superb creations from your den as always! If I may condense everyone elses comments into one and simply say Super-Fantastic!! I can't wait to see these beauties locked into the scissors of some Catskill browns or your local residents on the Gunpowder Falls River!

Carl,
I agree with everyone about this unique and very effective looking pattern! I like it and it looks so dog-goned buggy! I am going to have to put in a requisition for some time to work on this one! I think I have all the materials though!
Sweet looking pattern friend!

Irv,
A big, hearty welcome to the this forum and we hope you feel at home here because for most of us, this is our home! Looking around and taking it all in is a daunting task in and of itself but very enjoyable. Go slowly, savor it, and ask a ton of questions!

Re: J.C. Mottram & the Leisenring Lift
Lance, A wonderful post! I think Skues and Mottram were at each other on more than one occasion and for differing reasons. These "debates" often came to a head in the printed word through the three periodicals you mentioned previously. I think there was some real animosity between the two ...

Re: Welcome to the discussion forum Nymphs!
Gentlemen, Good Morning!! This new "nymphs" catagory is great! My favorite? #1 is Dave Whitlocks Red Fox Squirrel Hair Nymph! I was getting out the box in the closet dedicated to this very pattern early this morning before I realized this discussion had opened up! I also tie a wet version ...
