Golden Plover

There have been some exceptional flies on this forum using golden plover hack!e. I have searched the web and apparently they are very scarce. I saw yellow dyed starling ASA substitute. Any opinions or suggestions?

Re: Pheasant Tail & Plover

Great fly! Your flies are giving me motivation to brave the bitter cold and buy a new lamp for my fly tying desk. The effect of the golden plover is very life-like and a hackle not in my inventory.

Great looking fly! Plover is one hackle that I do not have but I will begin searching.

Re: Darbee Tups

What a great looking fly! The Tups is one of my favorite flies but I never tied one like that. Sounds a like a good winter project and thanks for posting.

Re: Pearsall's Thread

This is the first I have heard of this and I just went wild buying on several websites. I believe I will have enough of my favorites for years to come.

Re: Pearsall's Thread

Wow! I have been unable to tie or fish much this season and have been out of touch and did not know this. My search will have to begin for a replacement as I will likely hoard my Pearsall's except for certain classic patterns.

Re: Allgrouse

Great pattern and effect using my favorite gamebird and some silk. When I get back to tying this one is on my short list.

Great blending and creativity! I am very impressed with the effect of the dyed silver badger hen.

Re: Waterhen and Red Fox Flymph

Excellent looking fly - it looks alive dry, curious to see it wet.
