Flavor of the day
I have had some great days with this fly in the past and for some reason I haven't fished it for about 2 years. After I lost the last of them I just kinda forgot about this fly, then I came across another fly that reminded me of this one and I went straight to my vise to twist one up. It's funny how...

Re: Couple of flies
Hay Bob, No real reason for not using a rib. I wanted to keep the fly drab with no flash or sparkle but I could have used a rib that doesn't have any shine. But usally when I want to keep the fly from having any shine to it anywhere I will just do it this way. But really don't have much of a reason.

Couple of flies
Hook: lightning strike nymph/wet size 14 Thread: Uni olive 8/0 Tail/body/wing case: olive dyed pheasant tail, I wonder if the fish can even see a wing case behind the hackle but sometimes I like to add it. Hackle: brown hen I didn't use a rib and when I use materials like pheasant tail without a rib...

Digging this pattern and wow I love how your wing buds came out, you can really see how natural they look when wet, really lifelike and buggy.

Re: Can't sleep
No better feeling then to have someone want to try my flies out. Thank you for testing them for me. I'll be trying them as well in a week or so and I'll post my results as well. Sorry it took so long to get them out to you. I have been super busy with life stuff. Hopefully things will start to settl...

Re: Allgrouse
Yes very nice pattern you got here. Simple yet effective natural looking pattern. I'm sure it taken many trout with this pattern. With all the flash and bright colors used today I find as I'm sure many of you do that the more natural drab colored patterns still work the best.

Re: Purple Compound
Hay thanks for posting this. I really like this type of fly as a matter of fact I will try something similar because I don't have all these materials and I prefer orange, red, yellow, blue, and pink hot spots over purple but superb fly you came up with here.

Re: Soft Hackle Scud/Grub (rough draft - concept fly)
Nice job on this fly. I like to use a dubbing blend that's a white gray and black mix that also has a small amount of mixed bright colors mixed in with a small amount of orange or pink right before the head and of corse there are other components but the dubbing seems to be the most important aspect...

Re: Waterhen and Red Fox Flymph
Yea, I like this one, thanks for sharing I have never used snowshoe hare for shuck before but I will be trying it out after seeing this. Great looking pattern and I'm sure the trout will agree.
