Re: Fishing braces
Oregon also allows 3 flies and I use a 2 fly cast about 90% of the time. Very useful when I am comparing a new fly to a trusted pattern or fishing unknown waters with no hatch happening. Idaho allows 5 but I have never gone past four flies in a cast there.

Re: Purple Haze
Beautiful fly Hans!
Must be something in the air. I was struck by the purple bug this weekend and tied two purple flies with purple silk dubbing.

Re: The delight of a balanced leader.....
Good on ya' Philip for spending 5 days a week with so many beginning flyfishers who can't adjust a leader or need help with their own equipment. :) We all had to start somewhere and it is great to have a knowledgable and patient teacher like you. Over fifty years ago I learned the value of making my...

Re: The delight of a balanced leader.....
flyfishwithme I agree with what you posted about having a sufficient leader butt. I can't say I have ever had a problem with my furled leaders for either long leaders (up to 22 feet) or casting into wind. I feel they perform as well or better than the tapered mono leaders I built for over 30 years. ...
