Re: The Old Man

The Cahill style winged wet flies have found their place in a number of my fly boxes and quite often on my tippet. Now if I had some fox ear the "Old Man" would likely be yet another. Very nice tie there Carl.

Re: Wet flies as fished by Bergman

Bob I find this to be quite an interesting thread. It answers also some of why in the past you had mentioned that you fish the wet fly upstream. I need to do an about face and start pitching them upstream as well. Bill those Cahill's look great and thanks for sharing them with us. Regards, Je...

Re: Good Luck Chuck

Carl I have found the appeal of woodchuck when using a small streamer called the Llama. With this fly the woodchuck under fur and guard hair are tied in so as to keep them at the top of the hook shank as a light wing and veil. A tail of hen grizzly, body of red floss with gold tinsel wrap and the fl...

Re: Dave Hughes Video - Flymph Tying Demonstration (YouTube)

Having now viewed the Hughs video four times and most the other's offered at least once each It gave me opportunity to reflect back on problems I have had in attempting to wrap hackle. Have any of you experienced more difficulty in getting that first wrap of hackle to climb up on the Gossamer silk t...

Re: Waterhen Bloa III

Very nice tie Bill. Couple questions if you don't mind. I'm wondering if you cut through the hackle with the thread prior to the whip finish? Lastly would you give us a material list?

Re: Coontail Spider - Size #16

Bill prior to wrapping your hackle have you stripped one side of hackle barbs or have you left all barbs in tact? Whatever the case this is a very nice looking soft hackle.

Re: Sulphur Transition Soft-Hackle

That's interesting Bob, a "Lil Dorothy". This time of year I mean but then I have heard of a fellow taking trout in Iowa on a hopper in January. Now that I think about it he may have nearly said it the same way you did. The trout remembered what they looked like. Speaking of remembering, t...

Agreed Hank. It took me more that a couple tries to freeze the picture. That said it was a nice pic of some of the regular contributor's to this site.
