Re: synthetic materials..

I can't imagine what it's like to hook a fish like that but since synthetics are involved they don't count. (The adrenaline rush would kill me).

Johnno, we need pictures of the disgusting flies. Maybe we learn something.

Re: Tips on Digital photography

I don't believe this!! I can now share one of my sources uf dubbing material. As you can see he has a lot of shades and some of his underfur took on the turmeric dye beautifully. When we lost our house last year he had to move to "Mike Brave" - my fishing companion for 35 years. I still co...

Re: Dyeing wingless wets.

It makes me happy to see things like this. Beautiful colours. How come I did not know I needed that stuff too?

Re: synthetic materials..

I just read the other day that nostalgia is mourning what is lost. If so, I really enjoy mourning. I do believe that the excellent fisherman will catch on almost anything while the average one will need the assistance of a good fly. Well tied proven patterns with proven materials make good flies. Be...

Re: Grouse and Mole

Another dandy fly, Andrew. I really enjoy seeing your creations. Thanks for sharing. "save money by tying your own flies..." now that's funny  ;) I really agree with Ray here - I just have to have a grouse skin! Where was that saving you were talking about? Kamasan 410 - is that just...

Dyeing wingless wets.

The following taken from "W. Blacker's Art of angling, and complete system of fly making, and dying of colours." when I was looking for something else which will surface in another post. To be found here: http://books.google.se/books?pg=PP11&id=-I_lJlWnv_gC&ots=fibGr2k7v9#v=onepage...

Re: Chadwicks Soft Hackle Nymph

It is so very nice to see that people appreciate fish, and their beauty, regardless of size. I believe this is special for fly fishing people (but not all of us). Earlier in this thread I mentioned that some stress the importance of the colour of the copper wire used for Killer Bug. Re-reading a pas...

Re: How Leisenring tied the Tups

I've tied a few the original way now and can report som success. I am certain that the durability is much better. Unfortunately this is not a problem for me. I tied some with hen; easy as it is strong. Then a couple with woodcock which was easy too, but the stalk less strong. Lastly I tied a couple ...

Re: How Leisenring tied the Tups

Hi DD, It seems to me that you use the technique David Westwood described in one of his articles (2) on my site: http://www.aflyinholland.nl I do this the same as David Westwood but tie down the tip with 3 turns of thread. Greeting Ruard, Not quite, since I tied it down with the stalk pointing over...
