Re: Partridge & Yellow

Great freestone fly, Carl. Simulates a lot of small & medium stonefly species.

Thanks for the photo, it answers my question. Now all we have to do is to wait for Kelson and Skues to comment.

Re: Partridge & Yellow

Phil, that is an awesome cape. I have some welsumer hen capes of that same color. Now I know what to call it, Thanks.

Barry, don't worry for a second what direction the discussion takes. For me it's a fun ride. Your tale of fishing the Greenwells on a UK lake is intriguing.

Re: Partridge & Yellow

not only that they say to use Cochybondu and not Greenwells hen, is this a misprint? Now I need Cochybondu more than ever. Does the quest for unattainable materials ever end? I believe that the mean of Cochybondu has changed over the years. It was at one time synonymous with "furnace" (bl...

Re: Partridge & Yellow

Great topic Steve. The fly is simply gorgeous, well constructed and coupled with your description of your thoughts while on the vise makes it all the better. Thoughts on the color and the dark hook. When it boils down to it, we really have very little understanding of what the trout see or what mig...

You never get the detritus out and the cracks in your fingers act as unwanted dubbing brushes. Sounds like I should just quit worrying about it....

Re: Partridge & Yellow

Very cleanly dressed fly. It may be my computer screen and it's color rendition, but the yellow silk has a slight green tint to it, as if it were waxed with cobbler's wax. Just curious if that was the case. Beautiful fly. No, not waxed. The shading on the silk in the photo is from my fingers. No ma...

Partridge & Yellow

CFF softies 006 (600x523).jpg Drifting the river, we encounter back-eddies that, in summer, accumulate organic slicks composed, mostly, of the oil & debris of decayed & decaying insects from past nights hatches. Mixed with that dusty miasma are a number of still-living & edible wee inse...
