Re: PMD emerger wet fly
John, that's a pattern that should work great and like Ray, I've seen more fish caught on Bill's emerger than I can count.

Re: Where to buy soft hackle bird skins
To my knowledge, Cookshill Fly Tying Materials in England offers the widest range of game bird skins and parts of any supplier, and, in my experience, their products are consistently of the highest quality. Owner/operator Steve gives personal attention to each customer that contacts him and maintai...

That’s a devastating little spider. Beautiful job with the heel head.

Re: Hook rants and other nonsense
I think ages is getting to me... I definitely prefer bronze hooks versus black nickle hooks. Maybe it is age, me too am older than last week, but I have the same preference for bronze hooks. I bet your experience is much more vast than mine, but confidence doesn't need to be based on science. In al...

Geez, I was a chatty monkey in 2013. I don’t use that many words in month lately. (that’s true)

Re: Soft-hackle caddis
Phil, good to see you here again. I hope your water has been treating you well. That Starling and Her is exactly right. That's a fantastic fly to have as a dropper most of the time. It's almost always that or a Stewart's spider. I like the red tying thread as well.

Re: Libertone's Genesee Jewel
Bill, that's a strong sample for a Genesee Jewel. I tied a few of these years ago after seeing Mark's version. He used to say he would pair this with a darker wet fly year round as a search pattern and being new to the sport I took it as gospel. I learned to not put too much faith in what people say...

Re: Old Master per Pritt
Some brilliant examples of a serious classic. This fly is just so compelling with the subtle shade shifts. John, I'm not sure where you found that pic but thanks for posting it. My favorite threads are the ones where we pile on several takes of a specific fly for compare and contrast. This is certai...

Re: Old Master per Pritt
Bill, that's an exceptional example of that fly, per usual. I know there was some very interesting take on this fly by Rob Smith at one of his presentations in Lancaster last year. I wish he were here to comment. Beyond just the sheer beauty of this fly, I can't imagine what might be added. I looked...
