Re: Edmonds & Lee No. 13a

Jackdaw is such an interesting hackle. The thinner fibers and high mobility of these make them seem so delicate. It's aways fun to see a fly that looks like it should be moving even while in the vise. Nice representation of the original.

Re: Pearsalls Color Chart

such a fantastic thread. (no pun). I'm not sure why, but the subject of Pearsall's silk is one of my favorites. Thanks, John, for scanning your card. I'm not sure where I got mine, obviously the extraordinarily generous offering of a friend and when I recall who gave it to me, I'll feel like a heel ...

Re: Just old silk

Dana, Phil, thanks for posting these sweet pics. I have a bit of a thing for old silks too. A couple weeks ago I rounded up all my Pearsall's spools from a dozen different areas in my tying space and it turned out to be a fairly nice collection, both wood and plastic spools. There is such a range of...

Could you tell us about your trip to Roscoe this past weekend? I’d love to hear about your trip.
Same here. this is the first fall I haven't spent a few days in Roscoe. Seems a little wet but I'm sure missing seeing everyone.

Re: Quailabou and Light Orange

I'll 'fess up, Carl. After trying briefly to wrap one of these feathers with awful results, I tied it in as a bundle out over the hook eye with two loose wraps, then tightened down to sort of roll it around the shank. Left it there while I went down and back to make the body, brought thread up fron...

Re: Macro Fly Photography - A Process

Ray, there are some interesting comments in this thread as well as quite a lot of work, but man did this thread ever go on and off the rails. It’s useful in a crime scene forensics kind of way. There’s good stuff here, but you’re going to have to gather some evidence and attribute motives and then s...
