Re: Blue Dun Hen Hackle
I got the impression that they are naturally barred. On his website he has a column of dyed necks and natural necks, and the barred hens we discussed were all natural. I was asking about the blue dun as a rookie: almost every older recipe you see for flymphs and wets says “blue dun” so I had to ask....

Blue Dun Hen Hackle
Talked to Charlie Collins yesterday about acquiring a supply of hen necks suitable for tying flymphs this winter. Great, great conversation. First on my list were the “blue” duns, light, medium, dark and rusty. He pretty much disabused me of the notion that blue dun hen hackles exist, except he allo...

Re: button hole twist
So, is there any consensus on a particular brand, size and starter set of colors for a selection of buttonhole twist to serve the needs of this newbie flymph tier? If not, I will continue the journey, just thought this august body might have some recommendations to pass on.

Re: Taking a cane rod apart with cold hands
Bob Lancaster included a pair of split rubber tubes in his rod tube which I have used to great success. I also bought a pair of those gloves housewives use to clean ovens, also effective. And I have to agree on the use of 0000 steel wool to remove oxidation as standard maintenance. Care and feeding.

Re: Conover Flymph Tutorial by Bill Shuck (tie2fish) / Photos by Ray Tucker (letumgo)
Just looking at this: “tightening up the prespun bodies” looks like he is suspending the spun silk just above the hook with a bodkin and presumably giving the hackle pliers a spin? Not sure about the reason for the bodkin. Any enlightenment?

Re: New Pearsall's Silk Substitute
Found I had a Pearsall’s 5 lemon yellow so added that, a pic of all the comps, and a pic just of the Morus silks. https://i.postimg.cc/15yJtXwZ/D2-F06-E4-F-AB07-4-A35-9791-D52-DBFA5-C440.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/mgDjYnmX/060896-B3-60-CB-41-EF-8-FC2-DF0-B1-E5-B5-C0-F.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/qv5LjGYk...

Re: New Pearsall's Silk Substitute
In the primrose lineup the Morus is the center, I should have kept better track of which was which on the hot orange and dark claret (pretty indistinguishable I think in any event) and you can see the Morus brown is a bit shinier than the Pearsall’s.
