Re: The rookie asks another question
Donald,
About the snipe you mentioned in your last post, what feathers can be used from it? Sometimes the humor doesn't relate well on the internet..
Does my heart good to see you posting again.

Re: A couple of old scottish flies
Donald,
The Goat's Toe is a beautiful fly, but that Masson Grub just jumps out at me. It looks like it would do the business on some local waters. I'll be adding a few to the box.

Re: Greenwell's Spider (variant)
Lovely wee fly. Very clean dressing, as stated before. I'll bet it is just as effective as your other version, maybe more so.

Okay, I can't help myself. That is one beatiful fly. I'd bet it just comes alive in the water. Great dressing.

Re: Coq de leon
I have both neck and saddle of CDL in silver speckle and brown. Great range of size in the necks but the saddles do run to the larger sizes. I don't remember for sure, but think I got mine from Jim Slattery. It would be worth contacting him to see if he has any in stock. Always nice to support anoth...

Re: Itch Scratcher Soft Hackles
Fortunately, Olympia is a somewhat artsy town. There is a really nice yarn shop that sells 100% wool yarns in a ton of colors including some interesting varegated colors. I purchase a lot of the wool I use in steelhead flies there. I'll be doing some more shopping.

Ray,
Interesting way to do it. Probably improves your estimate of the correct amount of dubbing.
You sure have some nice dubbing colors started there. Hmmmm, Wonder if I can sneak Vickie's coffee grinder?
