No reason they would not work, but I must confess I never get that bulky with the bodies of my own..... but then mine would be classed as spiders not flymphs.
Way I see it, I could possibly get a dozen of my spiders to four or five of these plumper flies and silk is not that easy to find here!

Re: Bird Bath Tutorial - How to cleaning a bird skin
Nice work Ray, handy tutorial. On the final drying, I wonder if anything might be gained by using a method like the "cell phone dunked in water saver" type. Use the same or slightly larger dish, put a layer of dry rice in the bottom, place the skin in laying flat and cover with some more r...

Re: Waterhen bloa
Yep, have tried the flysite stuff before and it seemed a few shades away from natural colouration. Might look to the UK myself. Wind? Heck no, we got that. Passed a woman on the side of the road near Waihola toady, she was standing beside her canoe and roof rack, her husband was parking their car on...

Nice work Tim, where did you find genuine undyed Mole?
When you have finished with the rain, send some down here- our lawns are kind of dead and brown looking.

Re: New flymph tier
Hello neodoc. Nice looking first up addition to the forum. I have no doubts that this pattern as it is will catch fish and who are we as humans to know exactly what fish are looking for in a meal? Take note of Hans & Carl's suggestions, they are WAY better experienced tiers than most the r...

Re: Body Quill
That is a nice pattern. I think most of us have played with the material at some stage or another. I think oldhat is the guy you might want to be talking to. From memory he has developed quite a few body quill patterns, some by twisting different colours of the material in to a rope and wrapping the...

Re: Woodcock spiders
Tim, give the purple a chance. It might depend on what is in the water and what they are used to eating at any given time, but the purple seems to cover a lot of the dark olive- various shades of brown and black aquatic life. Purple is my first choice down here, if choosing a spider type pattern to ...

Re: Woodcock spiders
Tim, I don't think your feeding your Woodcock very well- he is looking a bit dehydrated, almost a bit flat looking. :P Nice looking spiders, I think I like the darker hackle better..... but I am not a trout. Purple is THE colour. Ask any Western Steelheader to list his favourite patterns or at least...

I like them and will take a dozen of each in #14 and a dozen of each in #16!
Kind of old meets new and flymph meets North Country spider.
They look like a good heavy wire hook, what type and size are they?

Re: Pheasant Ostrich and Quail ("Hunting Dog")
Very stonefly-ish, well the nymphal stage anyhow. Would look great tumbling down a fast run where such aquatic insects abound.
