I have two old cock capes that are very close to the color you have there - very nice indeed !! A couple of the older guys I fish with told me that particular color is called “buff”. I use the same mono, as well as other brands and colors. Try dipping a piece in Boiling hot water, you can stretch it, flatten it, etc.
