Re: Golden Plover
Sharptail grouse makes a good sub. Blue Ribbon Flies has wings dyed PMD that work well.

Re: steelhead swing vs. non-steelhead swing
A kindly chap took pity on me a few years back when I was fishing a local steelhead river and offered a few suggestions. His recommendation was to cast more or less straight across, then mend immediately, and follow the line with the rod tip as the fly swung below me. As it neared straight down stre...

Re: Favorite Hooks
Thanks Kelly. Lots of good reading there. I like Mustad 3906B and 7957BX, I still like the heavy wet fly hook by J Stockard (I was tying some pt soft hackles on those today), and I use a lot of Dai-Riki 125 emerger hooks. For up eye, I like the Mustad 94842, which seems to have a longer shank than s...

Re: Blue Dun Flymph
Beautiful fly there Izaak. I have been looking for a blue dun hen for almost a year now. I have a dry fly blue dun, but no hen. :( Kelly, You might check here. I too have been looking for a blue den hen, and I think I have found it here. I will likely be buying one after Christmas. I bought a Green...

Re: October Caddis
Nice pattern. How do you apply the puff? I am always on the lookout for a good October caddis pupa imitation, and this looks to be top notch. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Brown and Olive
Nice fly. Hen pheasant is fun stuff to work with, very strongly marked. The only drawback I have found is the stems tend to be somewhat thick.
