Re: Now What?
Re: Books I also have a plethora of books. Between the fishing books, many collectible, (3 first edition “Modern Dry Fly Code” with dust jacket, plus one recovered in leather, inscribed to me), the hunting, gun and bird dog books, it runs well over 1000. I am considering offering the entire lot to o...

Re: Art Flick book...
Mike - Thank you for the excellent write-up. I've added this book to my Amazon wishlist. Now I know one to the things I want for Christmas. :D ;) This is one of the things I love so much about our forum (avid readers & fly fishing history buffs). There is a new copy on eBay now for $26.95 + $4....

Re: Kimono!
JohnMD ya that's exactly what I'm saying....if you are making a large order Superior is the way to go. If you're getting a single spool Amazon is the way to go. I got a spool for 6 dollars and free shipping and had it in 2 days where as the same spool was going to cost me 11 or 12 dollars from supe...

Re: A new small stream rod...on the cheap.
I love my yellow feather lights but the crafted glass series is next level for only a few more quid. Grab any Eagle Claw Crafted Glass you can find and stand by for some superb fly fishing. They can be had for less than $50 if you search around and cast like $300 rods. One site has 2 models listed ...

Re: Upstream Wet Fly
Speaking of the Perfectionist, about 1970, returning from the LeTort, we stopped in a shop in Silver Spring, MD. They had taken in estate consignment lot of cane rods. Among them was a beautiful Perfectionist for $110. Money was tight in those days and we went home and discussed it. I was back the n...

Re: Doing better
I think that is a beautiful one. And you pin down an important point, that, in part, any pattern can be stated mathematically, and this leads to consistently good ties. (Number of turns to tie the wings, and how to apply them.) And, I’d bet that most have come to tie in this manner without conscious ...

Oh well.
It looks like it requires a google account, anyway, so I’d never see it.

Re: Starling skins
I used know a luthier who built a wooden frame by his paling area which was below the view of neighbors. The bottom of the frame was. Hardware cloth wired to 220v He’d get stale bread from a local outlet, use it as bait, an when the starlings flooded his “feeder”, he’d flip the switch. He reported t...
