Re: A Variant of Variant's seal spider
Not that far off of a Stewart’s black spider......... Dana, You are correct. I wanted a pattern that has more translucency and be more durable than the traditional Stuart’s spider. The black baby seal and black silk did the trick. The qualities and springiness of the seal IMHO exceeds that of hen ha...

Re: Hare's Ear, Pheasant Tails & Hackles
For years, I've gathered way too many fly tying materials as I've often searched for materials to tie a dozen or so of a specific dressing and then kept the "extra' materials on hand for heaven knows what future use. But in looking at many of the pics of flies done by others, I've been impress...

Great post Ray,
I dunk all my wet flies and flymphs, it really shows their true colors. I think light pattern is very important with patterns in or near the surface.

[quote="Ron Eagle Elk" post_id=101798 time=1589632831 user_id=64] I love the name! Made me remember my days as a Drill Sergeant, running trainees through the gas chamber filled with CS gas. Mask off, name, rank and service number. Lots of tears, runn...

Re: Fenwick Streamflex Plus 10' 3 wt and a cast of two wets
Ummm - A word of caution from the rod makers shop. If you tie a tenkara line to the tip top, and then in the course of fighting a fish or trying to free a snagged fly, point the rod in the pulling direction, it might be possible to separate a ferrule. In that case, your tip section winds up in the ...

Re: Fenwick Streamflex Plus 10' 3 wt and a cast of two wets
I have the GREYS XF2 STREAMFLEX 11’ #3 rod, I purchased it to try the EURO nymphing. Now I mostly use the rod for swinging wets and flymphs. I really like the action , sensitive tip and full flex down into the cork. A couple of times I took off the reel , added a furled leader to the tiptop guide and...
