Re: Swinging flies during a hatch
Nice fish...and no doubt quite a bend in that rod. :) Thanks for details. At any rate, I think a lot of us are like Moliere's famous gentilhomme who's astounded to learn that he's been speaking prose all his life, in that "single hand spey" casts come naturally in a lot of situations, espe...

I don't know, between me, Hank, and late, great Willowhead (Mark Romero), it's the rare thread that would constrain us. At any rate, I'll look forward to your posts.but beyond the scope of this forum.

Re: Swinging flies during a hatch
Thanks for the info on the rod--definitely a sweet looking outfit. :) I was wondering if you could clue me in on the "Scandit" philosophy--I'm guessing more of a touch-and-go cast with an aggressive taper rather than a sustained anchor as in a traditional Skagit approach? At any rate, I'll...

Re: Swinging flies during a hatch
Awesome looking rod--I've been really intrigued by the whole "trout spey" scene lately, though have yet to take the plunge. (I would love to have an Anderson, but a cheap build on one of the 2/3 Angler's Roost blanks is probably more realistic. ) I'd definitely be interested in readi...

Re: Poult Grouse & Hares Ear
Thanks for elaborating--no telling how many trade secrets we'll shake out of you on this thread. At any rate, ribbing is my particular bête noire (especially over coarse, slippery dubbing) but your example seems just about perfect.

Re: Poult Grouse & Hares Ear
Ha, that's the flymph equivalent of 25-year old Macallan single malt.
A question, though: do you brush out the dubbing brush before and/or after wrapping the rib?

Re: Dark Olive Nymph
Lovely fly--for some reason, blue dun hackle tied short really looks right to me.

Re: Bracken Clock 1250
but someone will have to explain to me how this resembles, imitates or even suggests a beetle. My personal theory (fortunately "unfalsifiable" in a Popperian sense  ) is that trout (at least in current) don't really see insects as whole, intact images, but rather they view potential ...

As I said, I'm a big Feralite fan--be sure to try the FF79 if you get a chance, or better yet the 8'6" FF84 if you need to go "far-and-fine."The Fenwick is an FF805
