Re: PMD Emerger
Nice fly and great "Seal PSA"--no doubt William has set you up with the premo wet-behind-the-ears stuff, but coarse, adult seal makes me grind my teeth a bit.

Re: Bill's Stonefly Flymph Tutorial (SBS Photos)
Ha, hopefully in front of all and sundry up in Roscoe...It will no doubt be torn asunder by the first or second 20" brown trout that eats it
At any rate, I don't doubt you could "up-armor" with a bit of extra-fine Lagartun wire and not change the looks of the fly much.

Re: Bill's Stonefly Flymph Tutorial (SBS Photos)
Ha, placing the ostrich herl over the thread wraps is diabolically clever... A question: how secure is the plover when wrapped/trapped against the dubbing body? If it holds up, you've opened a world of possibilities it seems.

Re: Little Yellow Stone Nymph
If nothing else that color combination is a winner--light gray ostrich and plover is one I haven't seen before, but it really seems perfect. I could definitely see some Spanish Needle/Watchet-like spiders coming out of this as well.

Re: Little Yellow Stonefly
I don't think we should overlook the use of the standard Partridge and Yellow for the adult insect I think that's especially true if you are fishing to Alloperla (Little Yellow/Green Sallies)--ours in the Southern Highlands at least are mostly #14 or smaller, even trending to a #18 as the year prog...

Re: March Brown Soft Hackle (variation)
Ray, here you go: http://www.theriaultflies.com/grousefeathers.html I think he prefers you just make a credit card order over the phone, but he also has a "bulletin" type catalog that he will send. FWIW, I got a red phase skin--ironic, since those are precisely the sort that are most commo...

Re: March Brown Soft Hackle (variation)
That's a great looking fly--March Browns and ruffed grouse just go together. (FWIW, I picked up a lovely skin from Alvin Theriault--whom Vern-O interviewed in Hatches a while back--great prices on a lot on interesting materials.)

Re: Golden Stone Nymph
I think Carl has it dialed in (as we might expect :). My own personal Holy Grail, though, is coming up with a suitable Yellow Sally flymph--they are by far the longest lived, most consistent "hatch" here in the Smokies, but for some reason they don't seem to share the same "palette&qu...

Re: Golden Stone Nymph
Lance, I don't know if trout will take that as a stonefly, but I'd fish it all day as Green Drake or Hex... :) Otherwise, one of the things to remember about Mr. Brooks' fly designs is that his "imitationism" went hand-in-hand with chunkin' some lead--is a weighted flymph still a flymph? :...

Re: My Steelhead Flymphs
All great ties, but I've been hating on the "Gamebird Flymph" for years now.
