I snared them on our local version of EBay, called Trademe. We don’t get a lot of good quality old stuff floating around, but I keep my eye out and now have accumulated a healthy collection of older hooks, silks, feathers, furs, flies etc..

I think UV materials are just a marketing exercise…. I don’t think they make one iota of difference to the effectiveness - or not - of a fly.

I buy what I can get. Mainly Tiemco and Kamasan for fishing use. Have lots of other hooks for display flies and what have you but if I had a choice of one brand it’d be Kamasan but here in NZ, Tiemco are cheaper for me to buy in bulk so mainly go for them

I think the gape is awful and reduces hookups.
It’s one of the few I’d not use.
