I've got the 9' version, and the Cortland Sylk DT seems to be the ideal match.skunkaroo wrote: I'm a firm believer in matching the line to the rod, and so far the line that seems to fit the bill is the Cortland sylk.

Oh, good. My original assumption was correct; your word play made me realize that a second pronunciation was possible.Hans Weilenmann wrote:The former, in Black Pennell.
In my caricature the intended word play also allows for/invites p' NELL-ized

Re: Pennellized
The subject line of this topic raises a question about my assumptions:
Is it pronounced PENN 'l or p' NELL? (Sorry for the apostrophe; this keyboard seems to lack a schwa key.)

Re: Tying off spiders
Hans,\I was thinking the very same thing. I was also thinking the extra head helped hold down the snell to the hook shank much better. Re: Tying off spiders
There's another option. 1) Tie the head first. If it's a thread head, just make a false head. If it's a herl head tie in, wrap and move the thread back. 2) Tie in the feather. 3) Take the thread back to form the body and bring it forward. 4) Wrap the hackle and tie off behind the hackle : lt-spanish...

Re: Pink Butt
Johnno, anyone who has fished the spooky browns on the Letort in central PA knows all too well the cursing and disappointment that can come from sharing gorgeous water with a duck. Fx#%!#g ducks! I wish they tasted better. w I thoroughly concur about ducks, but I'm not sure I would call the Letort ...

The fun you can have with a bit of silk, a dead partridge and a lump of old cobblers' wax... :D ;) Actually, I find that adding a hook increases the fun enormously. Nice. I catch more fish on P&O's than probably every other fly combined. I really like the yellow silk rib; I'm going to try it.
