The back is indeed peacock herl. I typically tie it on a standard length size 12 for the caddis. 14 for sulphurs. I know it's probably a little big to be accurate as far as hatch matching, but it just dosent look right if you try to squish it down any smaller and the fish definitely don't seem to mind.
