Simple and effective I'm sure. I'd like to try and catch this on Penns Creek this year. These might do the job ;)

I was so busy admiring the abdomen on the top right fly that it took a few minutes to realize they weren't all the same pattern.
Is that micro tubing on all of them? These would work well down here.

Ray, they are all tied on the Mustad 9671 hook, size 14.

I have been experimenting with different body types and materials.

I was just looking at green drake nymphs photos earliers today, in one of my reference books I need to do more research into the green drake nymph. When do you generally fish this nymph?

Yes Kirk, that is Midge Tubing. I stretched it tight to get it as small in diameter as I could.

Ray, for me, the Green Drake nymphs really start to shine from early March till Spring Runoff some where in late April. The nymphs can be quite large for Mayflies just before emergence. On the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers they can be up to an inch and a half long. Right now they are about a half inch long, but growing quickly.

As the rivers start to raise and get cloudy from the run off (snow melt), I switch to a size 12 -10 Peacock and Partridge. I still havent figured out if the fish are taking it as a Green Drake nymph or a Hydropsychidae Larva. Both are abundant food sources at that time.

These do a good job for the Hydropsychidae as well. Sizes 16 - 10

Wayne,
I like how this thread flows with the photo of the natural placed just right with the artificials all around. And your comments about how and when to use each....capital!
