body - beaver (tied thick in a dubbing loop, with guard hairs)

Superb! They body profile is perfect for a dragonfly imitation.

Looks juicy, Scott. I like beaver dubbed for a flymph but ever used it on anything that big. Nice use of that long staple.

I've been trying to track down a picture of a dragonfly nymph, which I took many years ago. I finally found it.
Your fly is a perfect imitation of the shape of this stage of the insect.

Where?
When I was a kid, I remember seeing the nymphs swimming and crawling on the retaining wall at a lake. I also remember evacuating the area cause they were scary looking, lol.

Beauty of a fly, Scott. That ought to look a lot like the Fuzzle Bugger when it gets wet. That wonderful teardrop shape in the water.

I love what you've done with a beaver pelt! The black hen hackle sets a nice contrast to the tannish gray beaver. I tied some wet flies this past fall with a cream colored body and crowned them with some very dark gray wood duck wing coverts. They were fantastic but at first, I was a bit concerned about the sharp contrast. It worked, the fish loved it, and I know that you will have great success with this great pattern as well! Get them wet right away and report back!
