Karsten, it is a bit like cricket. You can load your team up with all the "flash" embellishments you want, but sometimes a plain Jane will up and kick your butt.
Now when you get to the test match stage of fishing when water is skinny calm and warm and the trout fussy as heck, then the embellishments can shine (and have a first innings lead of a couple of hundred  ), but for rough and tumble- rough and ready can win out, kind of like "guide flies".
I have to be impartial, have a Tasmanian here at the moment, fishing skinny warm calm water........ ;)

Oh, and John, they are fine looking nymphs! :D
"Listen to the sound of the river and you will get a trout".... Irish proverb.

Those are great nymphs John. You tye some really interesting flies. Love it!
Ray, I am conducting an experiment. I have read numerous times that blue/purple are the last colors absorbed in the water. So I want to see if these nymphs attract or repel the trout in pools on my favorite freestone river.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Karsten, not sure how I missed these but mighty glad to have caught up.
Lovely tying on those dark hair nymphs.
How hard can it be?

Likewise Karsten, Sorry to have missed out on these little treasures! Amazing. I love the spiky dubbing.
