Your patterns are fantastic! I love the look of that "Rat Brown" ostrich herl! Ray is right! The thorax has a wonderful, buggy look that's hard to beat! It looks more real! Have you given them a dunk?

With Whitlocks passing, I've been looking at our posts of his fly. If any of you can tell me exactly how Scott P did his version at the end of this thread, I'd love to know it... I can't seem to figure it out

Love all these variations. On Whitlock's web site and the page on tying this nymph he shows 6 variations. :) I did get some of the SLF dubbing in the colors for this nymph and have tied a few of the standard pattern. Going to try tying some variations too. I believe Whitlock even mentions tying it in different blended colors.
