Diawl Bach Nebenistic rendition ;) Large photo

Post by fly_fischa » Thu Dec 07, 2017 7:10 pm

Haven't tied a Diawel Bach in a while, love this little wet/nymph, caught a ton of fish on them over the years. Here's one of my versions;
sz 14 Varivas Wet fly hook
Thread uni trico 17/0
UTC ultra wire red x-sm tag
Scottish Grouse tail and throat
1 Peacock eye for the abdomen
1 Peacock herl for the head

Hopefully I've somewhat redeemed my reputation with this tie Stefan? :? ;)

Nice one! Good choice on the hook there, K. That's one of my favorites for winged wets but, it certainly suits this fly well.
I used to fish black Diawl Bach's with a red holo cheek for Isonychia hatches... caught fish on them too.

Thank u Scott and Eric :D

Varivas make some beautiful hooks Eric and ur right this one does work well with winged wets, something about the sweeping bend...

You certainly have, Karsten, 'cause I can't see no photo! It's blank, thus I can decide that it's perfect. My congratulations!

Edit: When closing, a link 'Image' appeared. Clicking on that took me to Smugmug and showed a fly that appeared the business. Returning to the forum showed the photo in it's proper place. Thumbs up.
