Hi Guys,
I wanted to share some RFSH Wets (the Nymphs will be coming soon!). They are a blast to tie and so deady up on top in the surface film and just below it! These are deviations from the general nymph patterns. I hope you like them!

Mr. Doug, Those are great looking flies. I really like the abdomen and thorax. Would you care to share the recipe/ratio for the fur blend. I have the squirrel fur and possibly the antron or whatever you mix in to make this . Any insight to your concoction would be great.

Dave

Dave,
I'd be glad to share the recipe of the fur blend with you! The ratio I used was not much different than what Dave Whitlock had from his awesome video/DVD. I tended to mix it in small batches and added a bit more antron if I thought it needed to be brighter or belly (or back) fur to tone it down some!
My plan for this evening is to watch Dave W's DVD and take on some of the info that I have forgotten (imagine that). I will let you know as soon as I get the skinny on these things!
Thanks for your interest in this awesome concept by Dave W.!
More later for sure,
Doug

Dave,
I found my CD/DVD and watched it (enjoyably! I forgot how fantastic it is!) and came up with some interesting ratios! Here they are!
The abdomen (belly fur) to orange antron is a 50/50 mix! This seems right. I know that it surely brightens the belly fur up when mixed! The same goes for the thorax (back fur), a 50/50 mix.
Also, the antron needs cut to appx. 1/2" long or else it winds itself around the spindle of your coffee grinder/fur blender! When the fur and the antron come together, it is magic!
Below, are a couple of size 10 nymphs (with lead wire wound around the hook shank) that I just tied! Let me know what you think!
From a Nympher as well as a Flympher,
Doug

I forgot some other interesting stats! The abdomen is 2/3rds the length of the body. The thorax is 1/3 the length of the body. The tail length is approx. 1/2 the body length! I find that this is a bit long for my liking. I sometimes substitute some partridge fibers and make them a tad shorter. It really dresses things up. Sorry Dave W.!

Dougsden, Howdy;

No need to apologize for modifying your beautiful nymphs to suit
your eye and the 'locals' taste. It's what we do, ... adapt.

Hi Fellows & Ladies!
More junk from my trunk. I have marching headlong into Red Fox Squirrel Hair Nymphs! The latest ones have been tied on swimming nymph hooks. These are my favorite! I have to admit that in the two patterns that I tied and posted earlier (above) without the furry and fuzzy head! Since then, they've had this important appendage!
Enjoy,
Dougsden

Very nice!
Those "Fuzzy Heads" fished in riffles during a Green Drake hatch would be a blast.
Well done Mr. Dougsden.
