Cased (stick) Caddis

Post by DUBBN » Sat Apr 11, 2020 9:02 am

Size 16

A couple Cased Caddis that I have used for close to 40 years. I opt for Rooster hackle for sticks rather than hen. I prefer the Ostrich be the only moving element of this pattern.
One is natural Hares Mask for the body. The other is Cream Haretron.

Do you ever treat these with floatant and fish them in the surface film? I’ve heard that some cased caddis sometimes float to the surface, if the materials they use are too buoyant. I’m wondering if you have ever encountered this while fishing.

Handsome flies.
