Years ago, a friend used an old Ligas dubbing called "Black Drake" that has long been discontinued.
I found out that the Black Drake dubbing was made from nothing except "Aunt Lydia's Fuzzy Gray Sparkle Yarn", so I got the yarn , cut and mixed it, then sent it to the guy who had used the Ligas Black Drake Dubbing ….. he couldn't tell the difference.
Recently, I saw a YouTube video of a nymph dressing that used a Hends dubbing that looked a lot like the old Ligas dubbing so I did a dozen or so using the Ligas-sub as the collar / hackle. This pic was of the first one tied. They got better after I did a few more. Haven't fished it yet but hope it'll work once I can hit the waters again.

Re: A No-Name / New Nymph
Inspiring post. Great fly, fodder for new experimentation, and secret formulas. I love this sort of post.
Plus, I gotta fish this fly. Just looks so buggy! (sincere compliment)
How could the NOT catch fish?!!!

Love the fly. Like Ray said, very buggy. I've got a pile of Ligas dubbing lying in a drawer, haven't looked at it in years; I think I'll go back through it.

Very buggy looking fly. I may have some Ligas dubbing laying around in a drawer somewhere. I know I have dubbing and yarn of the Aunt Lydias Sparkle Yarn. Back when there was talk about it being discontinued I bought every color that was recommended by Gary LaFontaine. Came in small packets, but it's very nice stuff to work with.

joaniebo, Howdy;
I like it! It's small, messy, looks like it should be chewed up
and well ... I just enjoy seeing it.
