Black

I have no idea why, but if my pattern is mostly Black it is working right now.
Hen or Partridge. Bead or beadless.

Visibility perhaps? Is the stream really clear now? Black would be very visible in clear conditions and bright skies.

It's boring but black works very well up here right through the fall. I love the beadless version.

I follow a lot of Colorado guides on Instagram. One particular guide had this beaded version he was touting. I copied it the best I could. He used a Silver Mercury bead. I opted for dull Silver. Funny thing is it is working well, but no better than the beadless version.

Between the basic Black and the Tups version, it has been lights out on the fish lately.

The Yellow Sallies are still going, but winding down. The PMD's are out and throttling up. The little Tups is doing what it always does near the height of Summer Solstice. Putting lots of trout in my net.

I can not use a three fly rig. There are too many tangles from trout taking the top fly and wrapping up in the tippets.

I will start replacing the Black SH with Tans, Olives or maybe Orange SH's. Just to see what the fish will not take right now.

Good luck. Those flies are going to make it difficult to not catch trout. :D ;)

Beautiful flies.

DUBBN, I was strolling through the old posts and came across your squirrel belly variation posts, but the pictures have been lost to the forum...I had been trying to tie some Casual Dress but your flies just knock me out so I was hoping you could post a new picture of the squirrel belly....
