Since that post the Squirrel Belly was replaced by the Guides Choice Hares Ear. Slip a bead up the tippet above the Squirrel Belly and it will look uncannily like the Guides Choice when wet. In the end, they are both just gussy up'd Hares Ears.

I threw together a Squirrel Belly using a split thread. It is a wonderful pattern. Just one I had forgot about.

thank you DUBBN. there are a few guys on this forum that share their patterns with us that I keep going back to for inspiration. Those recipes, SBS videos, and images put together by folks like you, Ray, tie2fish, Roadkill, and many others require a lot of work. I'm a relative novice at this fly tying hobby, but I do really enjoy tying and fishing with the flies I tie. I do work hard to do it right, and I learn a ton from you guys.

ronr, this pattern will work with Partridge, or Brahma. I use very few patterns that I feel I have to be exact with the ingredients. Sacrilege , I know.
