What does yours look like when wet?

Would you post a few photos doing the comparrison like Ray did?

PLEASE?
Ok you ask and we make the film: here they are:

Image

In the water there were some airbubbeles around en in the fly between the hackle and the brushdubbing , so it stayed just in the film. I forced it to go under and for the picture she put all her hair and hackle straight to her body. Is a fly a female????

Oh wow, those are terrific flies, Ruard! The golden plover hackle is a stroke of genius. The color really compliments the body. I love the color of the body when it is wet. The red copper wire is working it's magic...

Wow, that might be the "Excalibur" of softhackled flies right there, though it must be funny feeling, feeding Chadwick's yarn into a coffee grinder! :) At any rate, I doubt either 477 or plover will be on my shopping list in the near future, unfortunately, but you really have me convinced about wire brushes and translucent material.

Ruard-- A question for you: are you wrapping the wire brush back toward the eye in open spirals over a thread-base, or do you wrap the brush from the eye toward the hook bend in "touching turns" (as Davey McPhail would say :) ) and only then come back up toward the eye?

it is not so funny if you realise that it is not an original card of 477, it is a substitute of Sprotfish I think.

the golden plover is really a very good investment.

Ray and Hankaye thank you for your nice words.

I wind the dubbing brush from the bend to the eye.

Excellent, I think Cookshill was out of plover the last time I looked--definitely want to order at least an English grouse skin from them, as well. :)
