That's one of my pet peeves, hankaye ... so-called singers taking liberties with the national anthem. Glad to know there's someone else out there who cringes at such "interpretive" renditions ...

hank, you'll find out (the hard way), that if you tye your hackle in any "earlier" than 11 o'clock, (specially without having removed "at least" some of the barbs on the far side near the tye-in point), that you'll have problems keeping that first turn's hackle under control. By tying in at 11 o'clock, your giving yourself a HUGE advantage in getting that first turn "goin'" correctly. So YES, it matters.....quite a bit.

CreationBear - I just saw your post about fishing my "PK's Royalty Payment's" pattern. It cool that you will be fishing one of my patterns. Thanks for the compliment. The inspiration for this fly came from a gentleman on the fly tying forum who goes by the screen name "purolohi kalastaja". He came up with a fly he called a Moldy Plum, which was the basis of the color scheme. I just loved the color scheme and have incorporated it into a number of my patterns since then.

PK's Royalty Payment
Hook - Mustad Model 94842/Size 12
Thread - Purple Gossamer Silk Thread
Hackle - Hungarian Partridge (tyed on facing out over the eye of the hook and then wound after the thorax is finished)
Tail - Zelon Yarn (Caddis Tan)
Body - Purple Gossomer Silk (treated with with bees wax)
Thorax - Peacock Herl
Collar - (Fold and wind the partridge hackle at this point)
Head - Silk tying thread plus a small drop of clear nail polish over the whip finish knot

Beautiful tye Ray........bet that would work very well for Steelies actually. Maybe on a stouter hook and a size or two larger. But i know they'd go for it.

Fixing an old tutorial - simple pattern showing how to work with Pearsalls Marabou silk. The old photos were missing, so I reinserted the pics.
