Wayne - Not after I'm done with it! :twisted:

Hank - I thought of you when I was pulling this together. Thought something like this might fit your need for a compact tying kit.

only in the 14' version... I have to clean-out my storage locker in Ut.
I'll sort through that swill and sell the majority and carry what dosen't
sell to the landfill then turn the trailer into a mobile fishcamp.Kinda like this;

Don't have to be fancy, some comforts, for a weekend or a weeks excursion. :D
It's alot of work and a pain in the butt to unplug,un-skirt, yaddy, yaddy this thing
just tobring it back and set it all back up again...
Besides I can just put my tying stuff and tye flies in there :D , :D

Hank, I was talking about a toolbox for going to tying events. There is no way in creation I could fit all my stuff in that box...rotflmbo. I have just about every dubbing I have inside of that business card holder. Now that I can take with me, and tie at a friends. Or,I can take it to a tying event...just in case I want to tie something dubbed, that I am trying to learn, or show somebody else. Some people fill up the back of a truck with tying stuff, just to go to a show. I just won't do that. It is too much trouble. Besides, I'm too worried some of it may disappear. I can take a kit like Ray has to a tying event, or my local friend's house. (the couple that both tie flies, and fish with me) I liked the links you provided. Way cool!
Oh, I would like to say this...if you are making a kit....try to keep your colors together. It would make it so much easier to find what you need that way. Say browns, greens, yellow, orange etc.... keep them in the same location, in a color block. You will be so glad you did.

Kelly - Organizing my materials by color would take all the fun out of it for me. I like them looking like a paint truck exploded all over. Random bits of color everywhere. :D :lol:

I haven't read the other responses, took lazy this morning, but on the wire and tinsel why not pre-cut into long strips and staple to long cardboard strips or crimp them together? As for the tread I'd card that as well on strips as long as the folder. I know there would be some 'bend' in the thread, but at least you'd have some. And if you just carried white you could pen the color you needed. What if you 'rolled' the edge of the card strip! That way there would be no edge.

Ray, I must admit your splash of different colors was tantalizing. But for me, it is easier to decide which of the browns I choose for example, if they are all in one spot. I put more dubbing in my organizer last night. I did find that I only had two colors of Angora Goat. I like that, and want to buy more colors. It is a nice seal sub. I have no seal here. If I had the colors all over the board, I might not of realized that. It is easier for me to keep up with. I do not have my salmon dubbing in the organizer. I have two boxes of that in different colors. I also have 3 separate boxes of mixed colors. It is not in the organizer either. But all of my single packs are in my organizer now. I even put a little mole, and pine squirrel in there. They are nice to dub with by themselves, or mixed with something else. I must say I didn't realize I had such an affection for brown, until I used the organizer. The second most plentiful color I have for dubbing is green.

Ray,

Amazing job creating a kit but I can't be a minimalist and besides I usually travel to Expos in my old PU truck. ;) I almost always left something behind or wanted something else for a demo to answer a question. For tying flymphs and soft hackles this is my latest kit to grab and go. :)
