Reminds me of an English Setter; very tweedy. Original pattern calls for a darker "faced" badger at the front but I haven't run into that chicken, yet.

hook - Mustad 3906 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 black
rib - oval tinsel silver
tail - teal flank
body - muskrat
body hackle - badger (undersize by 1)
hackle - hen badger

mash barb, start thread, tie in rib and wrap to bend

Image

measure (shank) some teal flank; tie in/trim butts

Image

dub thread/dub tapered body

Image

tie in hackle, reverse-palmer to bend

Image

capture tip of hackle with rib, continue to front; tie off/trim, trim hackle tip

Image

Image

tie in (folded) hackle by tip

Image

wrap hackle; tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

Gorgeous fly! I could see this being fished both as a wet and a dry fly (treated with a small drop of floatant). I like the color combination. It has a classy natural subdued quality to it. As you described, "tweedy" appearance.
