The video shows an interesting technique for making a wing with only one side of a feather.

There is an easier method by simply folding the wing section cut from one side of the feather.
I have been using the method for years on Muddlers, March Brown wets and many other flies tied with a feather wing.
There are two key points with this method.
1. Cut a wing slip wide enough for the fold so you have a good wing shape.
2. Before you cut the slip, preen the fibers so they stand straight out from the stem. The feather orientation is naturally towards the top and cutting will orient the slip upwards and you have to straighten as shown in the video. Faster and easier to pull the wing slip perpendicular to the stem and cut.
