Hackle: can’t say, but yellow hen will work

Ray, pretty basic, but so is the natural. I see the eastern model is the same shape, & prevalent on some waters, so might be altered to match local colorations.

Bill, one of the guides called me inquiring about a new one he's seeing, wanting to know if I'd seen them & what are they. I'd not seen them & didn't know what they were. Then, that night, I went out & there they were, big time -- & trout up & feeding on them. Thanks to my old dog-eared copy of Hafele & Hugh's Western Hatches, along with some online research, I was able to pin it down. Lacking proper dry fly hackle I opted for a wet version, & that works fine drifted in the film.

Hank, been getting good results with the fly. I have a way of forcing my clients into volunteering as crash test dummies for new patterns. Posting for you a couple pictures of trout they caught this past week. Wasn't going to mention it here, but the truth about the magazine is: I'm only in it for the money. Still saving for a Scott, 10', 6wt. And I need a new reel too.

Ray, even better trout last night. Fished by myself for ten redbands, all 20-24 inch backing seekers. Half on the Yellow Occi & half on a wet Black Quill. You might like the fishing here. For what it's worth, here's the dubbing components. The Wapsi sulfur yellow has a lot of green in it. The yarn is a pale yellow & medium-bright yellow. All blended, the dubbing has a very, very slight olive cast.
