Melanistic Hen Pheasant

Post by Ron Eagle Elk » Mon Apr 29, 2024 9:14 pm

Just received a hen melanistic pheasant skin from Steve Cooper at Cookshill fly tying. Man, is it a thing of beauty! Try as I might I can't get a decent photo that shows the colors in those feathers. Imagine the dark portions with the same sheen and color as a starling feather. Steve does such a wonderful job on his birds. I have everything from the tip of the tail to the beak. Five days from Steve in the UK to my door in Maine. Meanwhile, my new OPST Commando Smooth line took 18 days from Seattle to Maine.

Don't leave this one unguarded! Better yet, don't take it to any shows. Now, start tying! Tell Chase Trout says hi.
