Bad news from YLI

Aside from Kimono, YLI has been perhaps the go-to sub for Pearsall. I was told this morning, "The YLI 100wt Silk however we do not know when we will be getting that back in stock as YLI is currently restructuring and reorganizing all their lines. We do not even know if they will be keeping this particular line."

I sent an inquiry to YLI and received this:
"Thank you for your recent order and for using YLI silk threads. For right now, Silk #100 - 231 is no longer available with no immediate plans to bring it back.

I can definitely pass on the request for the #231 color to be considered when future new colors are introduced.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. We are happy to help."

For now, the maker of YLI, Kanagawa, is still producing #231 under their own name, which they assured me was identical. I ordered some, we'll see.

Just an FYI. I got this email from YLI this morning:

"A lot has changed at Y.L.I. Threads, and we’d love for you to see what’s new! Jim Miller, who bought the company about 30 years ago and moved it from Utah to South Carolina, decided it was time to retire. I had the honor of buying Y.L.I. in 2023, having worked for over 20 years in the thread and quilting industry. I’ve brought Y.L.I. back to Utah. We are now settled in sunny St. George, where we are continuing the tradition of education, premium quality threads, and industry innovation.

Your favorite Y.L.I. threads—Machine Quilting Thread, Wonder Invisible Thread, Woolly Nylon, Hand Quilting Thread, and Silk—are still here, and we’ve expanded our collection with six new quilting thread lines.

I invite you to visit our new website and browse our new thread selections. As a special bonus, receive FREE SHIPPING on orders of $40+ to U.S. addresses for a limited time.

Use code: 40SHIP at checkout to receive free shipping on your order."

Good; hopefully they can continue to carry on. Alan (BrkTrt) was a big fan of YLI silks and sent a few spools to me to try. As much as I like precedent and tradition (Pearsall's), I am now a big fan of YLI silks.
