Ringneck Pheasants - Reference Photos

Male ringneck pheasant skins offer tons of different colors/textures for fly tying.

Female ringneck pheasant skins are far less colorful, but in my opinion they are more useful for wingless wet flies. The mixed earthy tones (tans/browns/cream) and mottled appearance make the feathers ideal for fishing flies.

These are harder to find than the brightly colored male skins, but the are worth checking out.

The upper coverts from a hen pheasant wing are particularly nice ...
