What do you mean by “early season birds”? How can you tell? Is that a good thing, or bad thing for bird skins?

By early season I mean the birds weren't fully feathered. They had pin feathers which fall out when your working on the skin. The feather count is less on birds in this condition. Still, there are plenty of feathers on three skins
Also, the birds were freezer burned making skinning difficult.
