Are there any uses for a European black bird in the soft hackle world ?

Yes. The wing quills are the traditional winging material for Greenwells' Glory. The marginal coverts can be used as hackles on small spiders.

European blackbird is hard to come by.

I got a couple wing years ago from Ellis Slater. They were dyed black starling wings.
