Thanks for the links.
After reading tenkaraBum's write-ups I can see the difference.
Think I'll stick to learning the fly rod ..............for now.

You may HAVE to use two hands for landing a good size fish. The long rod gives them a lot of leverage.

The Ayu is a 13 footer they also have a 13 1/2 that is stouter than that.

Doubly impressive on an Ayu, since an 8-inch rainbow will put a bend in one. :) (That said, if you're regularly tying into trout in the 15-inch range in current, the 13 1/2 foot Amago is probably the way to go.)

Got myself a Tenkara USA Yamame 12 foot which i will use for nymph fishing tandem rigs. Love the simplicity of it :)
