I just took delivery of my second Tenkara. I hope to use it this week. I had a 13ft Ayu and now I have an 11 ft. Iwana. It is a little stiffer than the Ayu.

Excellent, like narco I have the TenkaraUSA "Ayu" that I find deadly for my soft hackle work here in the States. You can really get some amazing drifts using a 13-foot rod.

I have gone for an 11ft Iwana.
As I am no longer allowed to drive a car and it is about two years or more since
I last fly fished (or any fished
) I am going to try a burn (creek) near here.
Unfortunately this is the closed season, so I won't be able to use the rod until
next spring. I may get a longer rod for larger streams and lochs, possibly
the 13ft Ayu or the 13.5ft Amago.
I have had a lot of good advice from Chris Stewart, and I'll make up my mind when
the time comes.
I am still a bit loth to get on with the fly dressing, I really only have my right eye
that is of use, now I have a reason to dress some of those Italian Alpines that
I have shown on my website.

Since my cataract surgery my left eye has taken up wandering about. What some call lazy eye. When I'm tired or stressed it shifts to the left, causing me to have double vision and zero depth perception. Makes driving a bit tricky, so I let my lovely wife do the driving. I have found that, when tying, I sometimes have to wear a patch over my left eye so I don't see double and still manage to retain a bit of depth perception.
If they had told me getting old was going to be this tough, I'd have taken better care of myself.

Know that of which you speak REE. Once I hit 50 it seems like all the odd bangs and thuds I experienced throughout my youthful years are now saying, "See we told you it was worse than you thought!"
I hear that every morning and when the Low Pressure Zones approach with damp weather. Like today.
Macular degeneration has blured the center of my field of vision in my Right eye (my strong side eye), ergo, I am attempting to do things Left-eyed

You guys keep coming back with this Tenkara chit chat and I'm going to have to pull the trigger and try one. I have a couple 10' rods that I find ideal for the kind of upstream deadrift softhackle presentation, but something completely different looks like fun too. I just need some time on the water.
