Does anyone recall

Post by Soft-hackle » Tue Apr 07, 2009 9:10 am

Hi All,
On the previous site, I believe someone posted a link to a site where they sold natural furs quite inexpensively. The place seemed to be a spot owned by a hunter/trapper. It was located stateside, I believe. I thought I bookmarked it, but can't find it. If anyone remembers please post the link. I'd like to add it to our links page. Thanks,

Mark

Mark,
I posted a fellow that I bought some material from on Ebay. It is Paulette Fur Co. he goes by youngfalcon4421. I dealt with him directly after the initial bid.

Mark,

The only link I remember is when I went enthusiastic over my first delivery from the Swedish trapper at http://www.trappern.se I was all over the place from excitement. He is an out of ordinary fellow, living a dream of his. On his blogg he wrote recently that building a small house for himself has proved to be a complete waste because he hardly use it. He sent me, for kind of review, a fly wallet made from beaver and wool. The beaver is cleaned from the fur by lying in a small stream for about two months where it takes on a yellowish colour from the humus in the water. It feels and smells great; kind of a very rich wine. I will pass it on to the editor of "Flugfiske i Norden" - the scandinavian ff-magazine.
Some day I might need one, but I received one last year from a friend...

Can't help on the historical post side, but Moscow Hide & Fur (http://www.hideandfur.com/) in Moscow, Idaho, sells pieces of fur from almost any critter you can imagine at pretty attractive prices, and in sizes ranging from the entire skin down to small junks at $2.50. I can't personally testify to the quality as I've never ordered from them, but someone on a board long ago recommended them.

Thanks, everyone. Now, I don't remember which was the one. They all look good, so, I'll put them on the links page.

That's strange, Mike. Check again and see if you can get in. You should be able to, now. I changed your permissions. If you still can not, let me know.
