I tie up a lot of my larger wets for night fishing on TUE hooks. When I fish a blood knot dropper set up, for fishing two flies (point and dropper, I won't fish more than two flies, especially at night), I seem to have a better hook up ratio when I use a fly tied on a TUE hook.

I've been using Gaelic Supreme Jim Bashline wet fly hooks (unfortunately the largest hook in the series is a #6-way to small for my liking) and light wire salmon dry fly hooks for these patterns.

I also like them for standard wets and soft hackled flies. I've never really paid attention to whether or not they took more fish or not. Sometimes these patterns just look nicer when dressed on a TUE hook.

Good topic and interesting thread, Donald.

Best,

Tim
