That reel seat doesn't look like anything I've seen on a Heddon.

Reel seat looks like a Montague. Blue collar though, like the Heddon. Santa is a practical elf. Everybody knows that.

I wouldn't call any Heddon of grade 20 or higher "blue collar".

Here's a 1952 Heddon Thorobred glass I bought at a yard sale for 20 bucks & re-wrapped. Pretty blue-collar.

Yeah, the Thorobred, in both cane (grade 14) and glass was blue collar. In cane, Heddon had a production shop (up to grade 17) and a handmade shop (20 and above.) The former were blue collar, the latter weren't, although even the 17 (Black Beauty) would have been fairly expensive for a working man in the Depression.
I thought Santa, being a discerning elf, was fishing a Granger.

Bob, I learn something new every day. Thanks. Owned 4 Heddons, 1 bamboo & 3 glass, yet didn't know about a distinct, Heddon 'hand-made' shop grading. A thing, admittedly, well beyond my sphere.

I had actually just come inside from lawn casting a Heddon 35 when I saw your post, which is probably why I was more touchy than I should have been about the blue collar label.
I just wish that I could actually go fishing.

And I gotta say, if the old Heddon Thorobred glass be blue-collar, then I am too much of a Luddite to be able to appreciate anything better, because this thing casts an entire DT line & then some, without effort, & is a joy in every way. Leaves me to wonder if rods have really improved since 1952.
